Bayern Munich Whizkid Zirkzee Outshines Tottenham Trio Eyoma, Oluwayemi, Etete In UYL
Published: October 01, 2019Four players with Nigerian background were on parade at Tottenham Training Centre - Enfield as Bayern Munich thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday afternoon.
While goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi and defender Timothy Eyoma started for the English team, Netherlands youth international Joshua Zirkzee led Bayern Munich's attack from the off.
Zirkzee belatedly celebrated the new deal he signed at Bayern about two weeks ago by giving the visitors the lead in the fourth minute.
The striker was on hand to tap in from close range after Stiller's free-kick hit the woodwork and the back of Oluwayemi.
Günther scored to make it 2-0 Bayern before Rodel Richards halved the deficit in the 27th minute.
On 62 minutes, Mosandl restored Bayern's two-goal advantage and Günther ended any hopes of a comeback when he scored his second of the game in the 72nd minute.
The result could have been worse for Tottenham if Zirkzee did not fire over the crossbar from inside the penalty box in the closing minutes.
Signed from Notts County in the summer transfer window, Tottenham's Kion Etete came on in the 73rd minute for his UEFA Youth League debut.
