One Stat That Shows Ezenwa, Troost-Ekong Are Rohr's Favourite Super Eagles Players
Published: October 08, 2019Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa and William Troost-Ekong have emerged as Gernot Rohr's favorite players since the German took over the reins of the Super Eagles and there is a statistic to back it up, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
With his invitation for the upcoming friendly against Brazil, the Katsina United glovesman has the honour of being the only player named on all the rosters announced by Rohr since he was appointed coach.
Having said that, Ezenwa has seen action eight times from a possible 36 international matches, notably in the last four matches during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The 30-year-old has been omitted from only one matchday squad, against Zimbabwe in a pre-AFCON friendly in June 2019, but he was with the Super Eagles team in Asaba.
Udinese star Troost-Ekong has been one of the key players under Rohr as he has always reported for international duty with the exception of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles in September 2018.
The central defender was originally included in the squad list but had to withdraw after suffering a muscle injury.
Troost-Ekong is expected to captain the Super Eagles when they take on Brazil at the National Stadium in Singapore on Sunday, October 13.
