Torino Defender Aina Doubtful For Super Eagles Friendly Against Brazil
Published: October 09, 2019A Nigeria Football Federation insider has informed allnigeriasoccer.com that Torino defender Ola Aina has emerged as a doubt for the Super Eagles' glamour friendly against Brazil on Sunday, October 13.
The Chelsea Academy product was recently in touch with Super Eagles officials and sought permission to withdraw from the roster.
Given the short notice, the Nigeria Football Federation are unlikely to call up a replacement for the fullback if his request is granted.
Manager Gernot Rohr has like-for-like replacements for Aina in Bursaspor's Abdullahi Shehu and Benfica's Tyronne Ebuehi, and the two players who were in the 23 for the World Cup will now fight for the right back position against Brazil.
Aina, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Tuesday, October 8, joined Torino on a permanent deal in the summer and has appeared in ten official matches for the Serie A club this season.
The Super Eagles squad will meet up at the Fairmont Hotel on Wednesday ahead of their first training session.
