Brazil 1 Nigeria 1 : Joe Aribo On Target As Super Eagles Are Held By Five-Time World Champions
Published: October 13, 2019Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw at the National Stadium in Singapore in their international friendly on Sunday afternoon, with Joe Aribo netting on his successive appearance for the Super Eagles.
Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho denied the duo of Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino while Ederson Moraes was required to keep out a low effort from Victor Osimhen in the opening exchanges.
The Super Eagles will, however draw first blood in Kallang thanks to the explosiveness of their attack, with the tricky Victor Osimhen crossing for Moses Simon who teed up for Aribo to thrash home following some good work.
Brazil got their equaliser after the break courtesy of Casemiro who prodded home from a rebound after the Nigerian defence failed to clear their lines.
Nigeria yet suffered another blow when Uzoho took a nasty-looking injury after landing awkwardly following a corner and had to be stretchered off.
Rohr threw on a couple of late changes but the Super Eagles were adept in defending the swathes of last ditch attack from the Brazilians.
Both teams sent out a strong starting XI for the cracker and the intensity and rhythm of the game was at a high level from the off.
