Published: October 15, 2019Deportivo de La Coruña loanee Francis Uzoho faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury on Sunday as the Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Brazil in a friendly in Singapore.
Cypriot First Division club Omonia Nicosia, where Uzoho is spending the whole of the 2019-2020 season on loan, have confirmed that the goalkeeper has suffered a fractured anterior cruciate ligament.
Omonia Nicosia and Uzoho's parent club Deportivo de La Coruña have not disclosed the goalkeeper's expected return date, however, the estimated return from an ACL injury is six to nine months.
Benfica fullback Tyronne Ebuehi suffered a similar injury in pre-season last year and missed the entirety of the season, while former Real Zaragoza hitman Ikechukwu Uche was omitted from Nigeria's 2010 World Cup roster after suffering an ACL injury which kept him on the sidelines for up to seven months.
Uzoho suffered the injury while he attempted to save a header from Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro in the 63rd minute, he landed awkwardly on his left knee and ended up injuring himself.
