Rohr Reveals He Has Indirectly Approached QPR's Eze To Commit Future To Nigeria Over England
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that he has indirectly approached Queens Park Rangers attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze to commit his international future to Nigeria over his country of birth, England.

Eze has played non-competitive matches for the Young Lions and was an unused substitute when England U21s faced Turkey and Kosovo in the U21 EURO qualifiers back in September, meaning he is eligible to represent the Super Eagles without applying to FIFA for a change of association.

The 21-year-old was handed a late invitation to train with the Super Eagles ahead of their friendly against Burkina Faso in March 2017, which was later cancelled.

Providing an update on the situation of Eze, Rohr told BBC journalist Osasu Obayiuwana : ''We have approached him, but not directly. Tunde Adelakun, my assistant, spoke to his mum.

''What we understand is that there is a lot of pressure on him and Ebere Eze doesn't want to give an answer now.

''Obviously, we would love to have him in the Super Eagles,of course! We continue to work on getting him. It may take some time''.

Eze has been in blistering form for Queens Park Rangers since the start of the 2019-2020 season, contributing to 10 goals (6 goals, 4 assists) in 14 Championship appearances.
