Tottenham Hotspur Loanee Amos Named In EFL Championship Team Of The Week
Published: December 16, 2019As expected, Tottenham Hotspur loanee of Nigerian parentage, Luke Amos has been named in the latest EFL Championship Team of the Week by football statistics website Whoscored.
The Queens Park Rangers central midfielder was the star performer for his club as they suffered a 5-3 defeat at the hands of bottom team Barnsley on Saturday at Oakwell, scoring a brace either side of half time.
The game also featured two Nigeria-eligible players in the form of winger Bright Osayi-Samuel and attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Assuming Amos had scored a third goal with his head vs Barnsley, he would have netted a perfect hat-trick.
A former England U18 international, he was part of a midfielder four that also included Andrew Ayew (Swansea City), Bradley Johnson (Blackburn Rovers) and Said Benrahma (Brentford).
Amos, who had a rating of 8.67, played two shots against Barnsley with both on target, won two aerial duels, touched the ball 66 times, and completed a team-high three take-ons along with Eze and Osayi-Samuel.
His defensive statistics were also impressive, with a joint game high five tackles made, registered two interceptions and blocked one shot.
Amos has played 14 games in the Championship for Queens Park Rangers, logging 749 minutes.
