Highly-Rated Nigeria U17 Invitee Named In Chelsea Matchday Squad For FA Youth Cup
Published: December 18, 2019Highly-rated Nigerian goalkeeper Prince Adegoke is making inroads into breaking into the Chelsea U18 squad ahead of next season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Chelsea U18 boss Ed Brand has included the 16-year-old glovesman in his matchday 18 for the FA Youth Cup clash against Huddersfield Town at Kingsmeadow this evening and he will act as cover to Jake Askew.
Adegoke's impressive form for Chelsea U16s has been one of the highlights of the season, so much so that he has displaced Kelechi Chibueze as the first choice goalkeeper for that age group.
Previously, he made the matchday squads when the U18 team faced Tottenham Hotspur (U18 Premier League) and Arsenal (U18 Premier League Cup) this season.
The Chelsea team will be captained by another player of Nigerian descent Faustino Anjorin, who is starting his fourth FA Youth Cup game today.
Mustapha Olagunju, wearing the number 5 jersey, starts in defence for Huddersfield Town.
Adegoke was invited by the Nigeria Football Federation to a Golden Eaglets training camp before the FIFA U17 World Cup but couldn't travel to Abuja due to club and educational commitments.
