(Snapped) Chelsea's Assistant Coach Of Nigerian Descent To Be Unveiled By Trabzonspor, Arrives Turkey
Published: January 24, 2020Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are set to confirm the appointment of Eddie Newton as one of their assistant coaches.
According to various media reports in Turkey, including 61 Saat, the Chelsea assistant coach of Nigerian descent arrived in Trabzon on Thursday evening (see photo) ahead of his unveiling.
Newton will reunite with former Chelsea stars John Obi Mikel and Daniel Sturridge at Trabzonspor.
The 48-year-old, who holds a UEFA Pro License, will work as the second assistant of Hüseyin çimşir in Trabzonspor's technical team.
A midfielder during his playing days, he was on the books of Chelsea for 14 years and won the FA Cup, League Cup, European Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Super Cup whilst at The Blues.
After his departure from Chelsea in 1999, he had spells with Birmingham City, Oxford United, Barnet and Hayes.
He has also served as an assistant to Chelsea first team coaches Roberto Di Matteo and Guus Hiddink in the past.
