Manager Solskjaer Watches Nigeria-Eligible Striker Score Winner For Man Utd In FA Youth Cup
Manchester United's head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in attendance at Old Trafford as Nigeria-eligible striker Dillon Hoogewerf emerged the hero for the Red Devils U-18s in their 1-0 win over Leeds United in their fifth round FA Youth Cup meeting on Wednesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The 16-year-old was one of the three Nigerians handed playing time at Old Trafford by manager Neil Ryan, starting alongside Shola Shoretire upfront while Deji Sotona was introduced off the bench.

With 60 minutes on the clock, Hoogewerf profited from a cross from Reece Devine to head in what turned out to be the winner in the hotly-contested encounter.

Shoretire was also a lively presence in the final third had a great chance to double the lead seven minutes later but saw his powerful shot go inches over the cross bar.

While Sotona replaced Shoretire in the 70th minute, goalscorer Hoogewerf who has now tallied eight goals in all competitions for the Red Devils youth teams this season made way for Omari Forson 14 minutes from time.

Manchester United are through to the quarterfinals of the prestigious youth cup competition and will return to league action on February 22nd.
