Leicester Still On Course For A Top Four Finish Backed By Nigerian Stars
Published: March 04, 2020Leicester City are continuing their very strong season to date and are still firmly in position to finish in the top four and to guarantee Premier League football for next year.
Liverpool look all but set to land the title, with defending champions Manchester City also firmly in position for the runners-up spot.
Nobody would have believed that Leicester would have been 1/5 to finish in the top 4 in March, especially as they were as long as 6/1 with most online bookmakers at the start of the season.
The Brendan Rodgers effect has well and truly paid dividends, with an indicative probability of over 83% of Champions League football for the Foxes - an occurrence that will delight bookies, as the heavily backed likes of United, Tottenham and Chelsea continue to struggle with inconsistency.
Leicester are currently sitting third in the Premier league and have picked up 50 points from their 28 matches played.
This has seen them win 15, also drawing five and losing eight. It means they now have seven points to find with second placed Manchester City but are five clear of the fourth placed side Chelsea.
Leicester are also then a further three points clear of the fifth placed side Manchester United, which gives a further example of just how impressive they have been.
This puts Leicester City in a prime position to qualify for Champions league football next season, which is hugely important for the progression of the club.
Two players who have be key to their impressive season to date are the Nigerian pair of Wilfrid Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
At 23 years of age, Ndidi is still in the early period of his career but is starting to play a major role on the pitch.
He has scored two Premier league goals this season and picked up an assist from his 22 appearances.
Iheanacho is also just 23 years of age but has failed to feature as much as he would have liked.
Despite this, he has still picked up three goals and three assists from just 11 matches and the pair are both likely to feature heavily in the future success of Leicester City.
There are now just ten matches left in the Premier League season for Leicester, so they are the strong betting favourites to finish in the top four with the eight point cushion.
This run of fixtures will see them take on the likes of Aston Villa, Brighton, Everton, Arsenal and Bournemouth.
They do then finish with a difficult run of fixtures against Sheffield United, Tottenham and then finally Manchester United.
This is a fairly difficult finish to the season but they have been very impressive to date, so should have no problem with finishing the season strong and maintaining their position in the top four.
