Midtjylland Owned Striker Anene Speaks On Contract Situation With Crewe Alexandra
Published: April 10, 2020It is envisaged that FC Midtjylland-owned striker Chuma Anene will begin fresh contract talks with English League Two club Crewe Alexandra in the coming weeks.
The former Norway youth international has impressed since his arrival at the Railwaymen last August, scoring nine goals in all competitions, including seven in the league.
Football has been suspended in England due to the coronavirus crisis, leading to speculation over the future of the physical striker.
Asked to provide an update on his contract situation and whether he wants to remain at Crewe or return to his parent club in Denmark, Anene told allnigeriasoccer.com : "Nothing has been talked about yet. Unfortunately the pandemic came at a bad time, regardless.
"The loan agreement ends on the 31st of May, so I am assuming we will be talking about the situation closer to the date.
"To be honest, my priority is improving my position in terms of negotiations with any possible club I will be going to.

"Be it staying at Crewe for another season, going back to Midtjylland or going elsewhere. Of course, the closer we get to the date, the more I will know".
Anene has hinted that he stands a good chance of earning himself a permanent contract and attracting interest from other clubs if high-flying Crewe Alexandra maintain their league position.
"Regardless, if at all the season was to resume and we could finish on an even better note and improve what is already built on, I am sure it would be less of a speculative future in terms of what might happen, as there would be enough interest," Anene concluded.
The 26-year-old Anene previously represented clubs based in Norway, Macedonia, Russia and Denmark prior to his transfer to Crewe Alexandra.
