'I See Myself As An Entertainer' - QPR's Eze On Best Position, Player He Looks Up To, Career Aspirations
Published: May 21, 2020Queen Park Rangers star Eberechi Eze has spoken of his career aspirations, his best position in the game and the player who motivates his drive to go up the ladder.
With 12 goals and eight assists from his 39 competitive games this season for the promotion hopefuls, the 21-year-old has seen his stock rise and a summer departure to a big side in England has been mooted in the media for much part of this season.
Prominent amongst his list of admirers is Tottenham who have already scouted him this season and are willing to do business with Mark Waburton's side.
While the NFF target is particularly focused on surpassing his current heights of vying for promotion to the Premier League, he went on to cite former MK Don's starlet Dele Alli as his motivation.
"He [Alli] has shown that it's possible to go from lower league and fit right in and even become more than what people expected you to be," he said in an interview with The Beautiful Game Podcast (via Football. London).
"When you look at guys like that, just like Raheem [Sterling] and [Jadon] Sancho, you appreciate what they've done and you look at them and it's a round of applause to you because they've actually done it."
He went on to reveal his desire of playing at the highest levels of club and international football saying,
"I have goals and targets that I want to hit. I think It's more about me applying myself every day and the belief I have in myself, the backing I have in myself I believe that I can reach the heights of football.
"I want to get to the Champions League, World Cup, I want to be playing all of this. Not just competing, but really winning the Champions League as that's my aim. Wherever my talent or assets take me, that's where it is."
"I don't want to put any limitations on myself. In terms of my ambitions I want to be at the top. I'm going to work as hard as I can and apply myself in any which way possible in order to reach there. I'm not going to stop until I get there."
On his best position in the attacking front for his team, the youngster revealed his best talents come alive when he is deployed as a No. 10.
"I would say I'm an attacking midfielder. Anywhere across that front four I enjoy playing.
"I see myself as an entertainer, so someone you could look at and you enjoy the way he controls the ball, the way he touches the ball. That's what I pride myself on.
"I'll say as a No.10 directly behind the striker is where I feel most comfortable and free.
"I've had good games playing in all of those positions. I'm still easy playing in any of those," he concluded.
Eze is contracted with Rangers until the summer of 2021.
