'They've Got Wilfred Ndidi' - Ex-England Star Advises Leicester Not To Strengthen Their Midfield But Defence & Attack
Published: May 22, 2020Former England international Emile Heskey has identified two key positions Leicester City need to strengthen in the upcoming transfer window.
Heskey believes the midfield is amongst the Foxes strongest positions and name-checked Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison as he argued why manager Brendan Rodgers should bolster his squad with the signing of a central defender and striker.
Although Ndidi doesn't get the credit he deserves, he has stood out for his excellent reading of the game and ability to break down opposition play.
Ndidi alongside Maddison and Youri Tielemans have formed one of the best midfield partnerships in the Premier League, and the three players put in brilliant displays that helped Leicester City remain in the top three before the league was halted in March.
"Leicester should bring in a centre-back and a forward in the next transfer window. The forward should complement the likes of Vardy and Iheanacho and give them a little bit of a challenge," Heskey was quoted as saying by Leicestershire Live.
"They should bring in a centre-back and possibly a centre forward, they’ve got [Wilfred] Ndidi and [James] Maddison and they’ve got the wings covered in that sense but I think a centre-back in case they haven’t got that much cover.
“They have some young lads coming through but they’ll need a bit of time. But centre-back and possibly a centre forward, they should maybe look at and make sure they’re sorted in those positions."

Aged 23, Ndidi has scored two goals and provided an assist in 29 matches across all competitions in the 2019-2020 season.
