Walsall's Adebayo Named In League Two TOTW Ahead Of Potential Move To Hearts
Published: January 25, 2021Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo has been recognized for his outstanding performance this past weekend, with the Sky Bet League Two naming him in its Team of the Week, powered by Whoscored.com ratings.
The Fulham Academy product put up a man-of-the-match performance as Walsall secured a 3-1 win over Port Vale, netting a brace to take his tally for the season to 10 goals from 25 matches in the division.
Rated at 8.22 out of 10, Adebayo finished the match with a team-high four shots, two of which ended up in the back of the net.
The 23-year-old won one foul for his team, won three aerial duels, was accurate in 71.4 percent of his passes, while making one tackle.
His contract with The Saddlers runs out at the end of the season and he's being linked with an imminent move to Hearts, having agreed personal terms with the Scottish Premiership club.
Adebayo can negotiate with a foreign club as he has entered the final six months of his contract but Walsall are ready to fight to keep hold of their star player.
In a press release on Sunday, Walsall stated : "Walsall Football Club would like to place on record, in response to press speculation that has circulated this morning, that there is no truth whatsoever that we have agreed terms with any club to sell Elijah Adebayo".
Adebayo enjoyed loan spells at Slough Town, Bognor Regis Town, Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town and Stevenage during his Fulham days before joining Walsall permanently in 2019.
