Nigeria keeping tabs on Australian-born former Ipswich Town winger Folami
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that the Super Eagles coaching staff are keeping tabs on former Ipswich Town winger Ben Folami with a view to a possible invitation to the national team.

Folami ended a six-year association with the Tractor Boys last summer and switched to A League Men's side Melbourne Victory.

Nigeria have enquired who in his family has Nigerian roots after the winger confirmed that he was open to switching his international allegiance from Australia to the three-time African champions.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Folami qualifies to represent Nigeria through his father but is provisionally cap-tied to Football Australia having played competitively for their U19 team.

The 22-year-old was a member of Australia's Olympic squad to the AFC U23-Championship 2020, making three appearances off the bench during the tournament in Thailand.

Prior to his departure from Ipswich Town on a free transfer, he made seven appearances for the first team in all competitions, including debuts in the Championship and Carabao Cup.

Western Sydney Wanderers winger Bernie Ibini-Isei, who is still active, and retired striker Francis Awaritefe chose to play international football at senior level for Australia over Nigeria.
