Rangers boss namechecks Aribo in response to question about players breaking from midfield
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst namechecked Joe Aribo in response to a question about his players breaking from midfield to score.

In a match they needed to win after two successive draws in the Scottish Premiership, the Light Blues defeated St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park on Wednesday night with the game-winning goal netted by Finland star Glen Kamara inside three minutes.

The defensive midfielder  slotted past goalkeeper Elliot Parish after a lovely perfect pass from Alfredo Morelos .

Van Bronckhorst has underlined that he has midfielders capable of breaking from midfield into advanced positions to score.

Aribo has notched seven league goals in 2021-2022, making him the second top scorer for Rangers, a tally bettered only by striker Morelos (11).

Speaking to Rangers TV post-match, : "We have midfielders who can do it. Joe can do it, Glen as well he scored also a couple of weeks ago against Hearts, same movement, and Scotty as well especially when the spaces are not there you need to run from midfield. And today it gave us the important goal".

Aribo is three goals away from matching his career best in goals for a single season (10), which he set in his final season at Charlton Athletic, 2018-2019.
