Fitness concerns for another Spanish-based Super Eagles star ahead of Ghana clash
There are concerns about the fitness of Almeria striker Umar Sadiq, eight days before the Super Eagles face off with Ghana in a 2022 World Cup playoff at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Almeria-based Spanish newspaper Diario de Almería has reported that the Nigeria international did not participate in full training with his teammates on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday, he was at the Rojiblancos training session and listened to the manager's talk before leaving to treat an undisclosed ailment.

However, Almeria have tried to play down Sadiq's injury, stating that he carried out individual workouts while his teammates stepped up preparations ahead of Monday's clash against CD Tenerife.

The LaLiga 2 side are in touch with the Nigeria Football Federation to delay the arrival of Sadiq until after their crucial match against a direct rival for promotion.

There is another Spanish-based player out injured, Kenneth Omeruo who has not featured for CD Leganes in their last four matches but one as a result of suspension for accumulated bookings.

Watford duo William Troost-Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo are back in full training after their injury problems but are lacking match fitness ahead of Super Eagles duty.

Sadiq has yet to force his way into Nigeria's starting lineup, making three substitute appearances and one start at AFCON 2021 and has dropped down the pecking order of strikers with the return of Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo and Emmanuel Dennis to the squad for the matches against Ghana.
