Nigeria sweat on fitness of Leicester winger ahead of Ghana clash after Rodgers update
Nigeria's interim manager Augustine Eguavoen is sweating over the fitness of Ademola Lookman, five days before facing Ghana in a 2022 World Cup playoff.

The former England U20 international was omitted from Leicester City's matchday squad in their Premier League meeting with Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

In his pre-match press conference, manager Brendan Rodgers expected Lookman to have fully recovered for the visit of the Bees but he wasn't cleared to play, missing the game due to illness.

"Rodgers says Ademola Lookman missed the game through illness," BBC Sport Leicester tweeted after the game.

Though the winger was not in tiptop condition for the Europa Conference League round of 16 clash versus Rennes, he had to come off the bench in the 12th minute after Marc Albrighton sustained a groin injury, but was himself replaced with twelve minutes to go.

Lookman has been named in the latest Nigeria squad after FIFA approved his application to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria and is expected to be involved in some capacity against the Black Stars provided he is fit.

So far this season, the  2017 U20 World Cup winner with England has scored six goals and registered five assists in 31 matches.

Lookman's Leicester teammate Wilfred Ndidi has already been replaced in the Super Eagles squad by Lorient midfielder Innocent Bonke.
