Barcelona, Man Utd, Tottenham, Leicester scouts watch Eintracht's Nigerian RB score own goal in UEL
Published: November 28, 2024Several scouts representing top European clubs were in attendance at the MCH Arena on Thursday night as FC Midtjylland faced off with Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday five, league phase of the UEFA Europa League.
German-born Nigerian right-back Nnamdi Collins was in action for the German Bundesliga side, marking his tenth career appearance for the club's first team.
According to bold.dk, there were representatives from English clubs Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Sheffield United in the stands.
Spanish teams Barcelona and Villarreal, plus German trio Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Köln and Hannover, as well as Genoa had one or more scouts present for the game.
After Hugo Larsson opened the scoring for the visitors in the seventh minute, honors were even early in the second half as Midtjylland equalized through an own goal by Collins.
Mikel Krüger-Johnsen intended to deliver a cross into the penalty area, but Collins inadvertently deflected the ball, causing it to loop into the top right corner, leaving Trapp with no chance to make a save in the 48th minute.
In the 57th minute, Omar Marmoush gave Eintracht Frankfurt the lead again when he converted a penalty.
Collins has featured as a starter in the Eagles' last three Bundesliga fixtures and also made consecutive starts in the Europa League.
With their victory against the Danish Superliga team, Eintracht Frankfurt are now third in the Europa League table with thirteen points and also equaled Chelsea's record of eighteen unbeaten Europa League matches in a row.
