Former Chelsea central defender Kenneth Omeruo has ended all doubts about his availability for Nigeria's upcoming 2022 World Cup playoff with Ghana after reporting for international duty on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

The CD Leganes star was previously rated as doubtful to honour the call-up due to an adductor injury he was recovering from.

Omeruo participated in two training sessions with his Leganes teammates last week and was included in the matchday squad for their most recent game against Sporting Gijon having passed a fitness test.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has not played competitively for thirty-nine days and would be lacking match fitness heading into the game at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Friday.

Omeruo's central defensive partner at AFCON 2021, William Troost-Ekong is even worse off in terms of game time as he has been inactive for Watford since going the distance against his old club Tottenham Hotspur on January 1, 2022.

A two-time World Cupper, Omeruo also faces competition from Leon Balogun, Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey for a spot at center back against the Black Stars.

The 28-year-old is the second most experienced player named on the roster with 58 international appearances to his name, behind the centurion Ahmed Musa.
