'There are a lot of issues' - Rangers defender Bassey tells Super Eagles fans what to expect vs Ghana
Published: March 23, 2022Versatile Rangers left-back Calvin Bassey has arguably his best chance yet to make his international debut on Friday evening when the Super Eagles do battle with Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The Anglo-Italian-Nigerian starlet trained with the Super Eagles last October after earning his first international call-up but was unable to debut in back-to-back matches against Central African Republic.
With the Super Eagles losing the first leg against Central African Republic in Lagos, erstwhile Nigeria boss Gernot Rohr felt it was not the time to experiment in the second leg, a decision that saw Bassey remain an unused substitute.
Five months later, the Leicester City academy product has now come of age, with assured performances for Rangers at the back after fully breaking into the starting lineup.
When asked to comment on what Nigerians should be expecting against Ghana, Bassey told reporters including allnigeriasoccer.com at the end of training on Tuesday : "Obviously, it is going to be a good game, it's going to be a hard game, they are a good team but we are well prepared.
"We've got more than enough talents and hopefully we go there and get a good result.
"There are a lot of issues between us and the Ghanaians, we are going to give a hundred and ten percent and hopefully we get the job done."

Should he play even for one second in any of the two matches against Ghana, Bassey will no longer be eligible to represent England and Italy internationally.
