'It wasn't professional' - Osimhen details ill-treatment from Ghana fans, authorities in Kumasi
Published: March 27, 2022Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that the Super Eagles received ill-treatment from the Ghanaian fans and authorities right from when they stepped off the chartered flight that brought them from Abuja to Kumasi.
In a video that has since gone viral, the Super Eagles players and officials faced a risky exit disembarking from the plane.
Osimhen added that the players were harassed by the Black Stars supporters as the team bus made its way inside the Baba Yara Stadium and they were not allowed to inspect the pitch on game day.
Despite the off-the-pitch problems, the three-time African champions weathered the storm and were able to force the hosts to a goalless draw on Friday night.
"The experience in Ghana is a bit understandable due to the African thing but it was surprising when we landed and we had to jump down and some of us carried big hand luggage which was quite stressful for us," Osimhen said to Elegbete TV Sports during the recovery workout on Saturday evening.
"When I first saw it it was really funny but at the end of the day it was a good experience.
"From our hotel to the stadium is about 25-30 minutes so on getting there there was a huge Ghanaian crowd, screaming at us, hitting our bus and made signs.
"We were in the traffic for like up to 45 minutes before we got to the dressing room and when we got to the dressing room, it wasn't up to 20 minutes, then Yobo came to us we had to go out.
"We didn't even inspect the pitch like a normal game day but we are used to these kind of things so we were not really bothered about that. It was really not professional."

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has appealed for fans to support the Super Eagles from the stands in
Tuesday evening's 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana at the Moshood
