2022 World Cup playoff : Chukwueze misses training again ahead of visit of Ghana
Published: March 27, 2022Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that there are now genuine concerns over the availability of Samuel Chukwueze for the return leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff between Nigeria and Ghana at the National Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday evening.
The Villarreal winger suffered a 'knock' in the first leg clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday evening, leading to his substitution on the hour mark by Emmanuel Dennis.
Although the Super Eagles number 11 was present at the stadium on Sunday evening, he was excused from all the team's activities for the second straight day.
There was an indication that he wasn't going to participate in the session when the team arrived at the stadium as he was spotted wearing trainers.
If this evening's workout is anything to go by, Super Eagles interim manager Eguavoen has already identified a replacement for Chukwueze in the event he is not passed fit to take to the field against Ghana.
Injuries have been a real problem for Chukwueze in the last one year, having previously missed all the matches played by the Super Eagles in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers, the 2021 Europa League final and UEFA Super Cup.
In a bit of positive news on the injury front, Victor Osimhen, Zaidu Sanusi and Innocent Bonke, who sat out the recovery session on Saturday evening, were all involved in today's workout.
