Leicester City CB called up to Super Falcons squad for friendlies vs Olympic champions Canada
Published: April 06, 2022Through their official website, Leicester City have confirmed that Ashleigh Plumptre has been named in the Super Falcons squad for the upcoming friendlies against Olympic champions Canada.
The doubleheader sees the Super Falcons face the
Canadians at BC Place in Vancouver on April 8 and Langford’s Starlight
Stadium on Vancouver Island three days later.
Canada Soccer announced their roster for both games nine days ago, naming Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Reading players on the roster
The Nigeria Football Federation have not yet confirmed the list of players invited for the matches with the Canadians.
Plumptre, a former England youth international, impressed on her senior debut
against Ivory Coast in a 2022 African Women's Cup of Nations qualifying
last month but she blotted her copybook by giving away a penalty in the
reverse fixture in Abidjan.
Nigeria are using the friendlies with Canada as part of their preparations for this summer's AWCON in Morocco which also doubles as the African qualifiers for the 2023 Women's World Cup.
