Manchester United potentially scouted Super Eagles star in Champions League clash
Published: April 08, 2022Manchester United could have potentially scouted Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze during Villarreal's Champions League quarterfinal clash against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.
According to The Daily Mail, the Red Devils had at least one scout in attendance for the clash at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
It has been suggested that the Manchester United talent spotters were in Spain to run the rule over another Nigerian-born winger Arnaut Danjuma who netted the match winner in the eighth minute.
Yellow Submarine coach Unai Emery used Chukwueze off the bench against the Bavarians, bringing him on to replace Danjuma on 81 minutes.
He was passed fit to face Bayern after recovering from a minor muscle injury he suffered during the 2022 World Cup playoff with Ghana in Kumasi.
Manchester United were linked with the Nigeria international a year ago but nothing came out of it.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner was in the Villarreal side beaten 2-0 at home by Manchester United in the group stage of this season's Champions League and missed the Europa League final against the Premier League giants last May due to injury he picked up in the semifinal clash versus Arsenal.
