Super Eagles striker Dessers convinced Feyenoord were the better team in thriller vs Slavia
Published: April 08, 2022As far as Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is concerned, Feyenoord were the better team during their 3-3 draw with Slavia Prague in a quarterfinal Europa Conference League clash at Stadion Feijenoord 'De Kuip' on Thursday.
The Dutch Eredivisie side thought they would be taking a one-goal advantage into the second leg, only for Ibrahim Traoré to restore parity in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Feyenoord had fought back from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 with four minutes of normal time remaining.
Dessers, who came off the bench in the 64th minute, had a hand in Feyenoord's equaliser when his cross from the left bounced off Marcos Senesi and went into the net.
The Racing Genk loanee has been on fire in the Europa Conference League, either scoring or assisting in each of his last six games and has a goal contribution of eight (6 goals, 2 assists) after nine matches.
Speaking to UEFA.com post-match, Dessers said : "I hope that us as a team, and me personally, can get the result we need next week.
"It’s going to be a tough match but, after this evening, I’m convinced that we are the better team".
Slavia Prague wingers Peter Olayinka and Yira Sor were on the scoresheet against Feyenoord.
