Aston Villa coach Gerrard watches PSV's Anglo-Nigerian winger ahead of potential summer move
Published: April 09, 2022English Premier League club Aston Villa are showing concrete interest in England U21 international of Nigerian descent Nonso Madueke ahead of the opening of the transfer window.
According to the reliable Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard was among the spectators at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night as Leicester City were held to a goalless draw by PSV Eindhoven.
Gerrard was in the stands to watch Madueke in action and the Anglo-Nigerian caught the eye despite not getting on the scoresheet.
The 20-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City credited with an interest, and the winger's Nigerian dad was at Borussia Dortmund for transfer talks but nothing came out of it.
PSV gave Madueke a new deal last August to temporarily fend off interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs and the agreement keeps him in Eindhoven until June 30, 2025.
The Tottenham Hotspur academy product is not the only PSV player on the radar of Aston Villa as Gerrard also made the trip to Leicester City to check out Ivory Coast defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré.
