EFL Awards 2022 : Bournemouth's Solanke, Charlton's Deji, Leyton Orient's Ogie nominated
Published: April 14, 2022The English Football League on Thursday revealed the nominees for the prestigious 2022 EFL Awards taking place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Sunday, April 24, with three Nigeria-eligible players making the cut in various categories.
For the standout award, the Championship Player of the Season, Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is one of the three players shortlisted for the accolade and faces competition from Fulham duo Aleksander Mitrovic and Harry Wilson.
2017 U20 World Cup winner Solanke has been in scintillating form for the Cherries in the Championship, scoring 24 goals in 39 appearances.
Leyton Orient's Republic of Ireland youth teamer Shadrach Ogie has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Young Player of the Season.
A left-sided central defender, Ogie broke into the starting lineup of Leyton Orient this season and has 32 appearances to his name in the third tier, of which twenty seven were starts.
Also on the list of nominees for League Two YPOTS are Finn Azaz (Newport County) and Connor Taylor (Bristol Rovers).
Promising Charlton Athletic defender Deji Elerewe is up against Freddie Draper (Lincoln City) and Michael Williams (Crewe Alexandra) for the LFE Apprentice of the Season League One.
The 18-year-old Elerewe, who has made 11 appearances for the first team of the Addicks this term, will be hoping to emulate former Charlton Athletic winger Ademola Lookman, who was named LFE Apprentice of the Year for the Championship in 2016.
