Europa League TOTW: Aribo partners RB Leipzig star with 48 goal contributions in CM
Published: April 15, 2022Football statistics website Whoscored.com has unveiled its Team of the Week following the conclusion of the UEFA Europa League quarterfinal, second leg fixtures.
Three Nigeria internationals were in action in the Europa League on Thursday namely Glasgow Rangers trio Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun.
Only Aribo was recognized in the Team of the Week after his two assists helped the Light Blues defeat Sporting Braga to advance to the last four of the competition.
In a 4-4-2 formation, the Rangers number 17 is partnered in central midfield by arguably one of the hottest players in Europe at the moment in RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku, who has been involved in an astonishing 48 goals (30 goals, 18 assists) in all competitions this term, including 12 in Europe.
At 8.90, Aribo was the best rated player in the Team of the Week, placing first ahead of Rangers teammate James Tavernier (8.89), scorer of a brace versus Sporting Braga.
The Super Eagles number 10 registered a game-high eight shots though none was on target, won eight aerial duels, bettered only by Connor Goldson, made a game-high six key passes - one more than the entire Braga team combined.
Aribo completed three dribbles, won a joint-team high two fouls, made two tackles and was accurate in 80.6 percent of his passes in 105 minutes of action.
