'Better than Danilo' - Legendary Dutch coach urges Feyenoord to sign Dessers on permanent deal
Published: April 19, 2022Legendary Dutch football tactician Aad de Mos, known in these parts for coaching deceased Nigeria icon Stephen Keshi at RSC Anderlecht, is urging Feyenoord to offer a permanent deal to Cyriel Dessers.
The Nigeria international joined the Eredivisie side on loan from Racing Genk in the summer transfer window with an option to buy set at four million euros included in the agreement.
Dessers has exceeded expectations at Feyenoord, scoring fifteen goals and setting up his teammates four times in 34 all-competition appearances, despite not guaranteed a starting spot.
The 27-year-old has performed incredibly well in the Europa Conference League with eight goals, more than any other player in the competition.
Feyenoord are being linked with a summer move for Ajax's Brazilian striker Danilo, who is out of contract in June.
"Dessers is a certainty. It is not casino luck, he all makes beautiful goals. No ticks or penalties," Aad de Mos said on ESPN, according to Voetbal Nieuws.
"That combination just works well. You can't get rid of Dessers if you win the Conference League, you can't do that to your fans. Better than Danilo."
Dessers was behind Paul Onuachu and Ike Ugbo in the pecking order of strikers at Racing Genk before his loan switch to Feyenoord.
