Flower provides assist within first minute of action in Chelsea U18 3-2 win vs Tottenham
Published: April 19, 2022In a dramatic game at Cobham Training Centre on Tuesday afternoon, Chelsea left it late to secure a 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the U18 Premier League South.
Louis Flower was the only player of Nigeria descent named in the the starting lineup and was on the pitch for 80 minutes before making way for first year scholar Tudor Mendel-Idowu, while 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke was a non-playing substitute.
Chelsea were desperate for a return to winning ways after suffering three successive defeats in league and cup, and drew first blood inside one minute as Ronny Stutter slotted into the net after he was teed up by Flower.
But the visitors were level five minutes later as Maxwell McKnight smashed the ball in.
Andersson restored Chelsea's one-goal lead midway through the first half but it was cancelled out by the visitors five minutes before the interval, and Castledine headed home the winner with four minutes remaining.
Flower made his debut in the UEFA Youth League, U18 Premier League, Papa
John's Trophy, U18 Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup in the current season and has notched five goals in all competitions.
Derrick Abu, Somto Boniface, Richard Olise, Chinonso Chibueze were omitted from Chelsea's matchday squad for the London derby.
