Man Utd's Nigeria-eligible midfielder unlikely to make squad vs Arsenal, starts in PL 2
Published: April 22, 2022Shola Shoretire is unlikely to be included in Manchester United's traveling squad for Saturday's crucial Premier League meeting with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, just as allnigeriasoccer.com suggested earlier today.
The England youth international of Nigerian descent was involved in the Red Devils penultimate workout on Thursday but wasn't spotted in any training images on Friday, the team's final training session before heading to the English capital.
Shoretire has been named in the Manchester United's starting lineup for their Premier League 2 match against Arsenal at Old Trafford, kickoff 1900 hours, which all but rules him out of the first team's game against the same opponents tomorrow.
You have to go back to May 23, 2021 for the last time the Anglo-Nigerian midfielder was called up for a Premier League game, against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of last season when he came off the bench for the final eight minutes.
The 18-year-old's other appearance in the top-flight came against Newcastle United in February 2021.
Meanwhile, Miguel Azeez has been omitted from Arsenal's matchday squad vs Manchester United U23s, and the same applies to Mazeed Ogungbo, who has also trained with the first team in recent weeks.
