18yo Nigeria-eligible midfielder pictured training with Manchester United pre-Chelsea
Published: April 26, 2022England U19 international of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire was once again invited to train with Manchester United first teamers by interim boss Ralf Rangnick ahead of Thursday's Premier League meeting with Chelsea.
The official website of the Red Devils has published the latest training images following the conclusion of the workout at Carrington Training Ground, with Shoretire pictured sweating it out with the likes of Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder took part in at least one training session before the clash against Arsenal at the weekend but was not officially named in the traveling squad to London.
With the game just two days away, Rangnick is sweating over the fitness of two midfielders Paul Pogba (calf injury) and Fred (hip flexor problem), while Edinson Cavani (calf injury) and Luke Shaw (knee injury) are not expected to be available for selection.
The potential absence of Pogba and Fred has pushed Shoretire up the pecking order of midfielders, though he would be fighting with more experienced players such as Bruno Fernandes, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Scott McTominay for a midfield spot.
And for the attacking positions, the Anglo-Nigerian is competing with Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga.
