Two Nigeria internationals nominated for Europa Conference League Player of the Week
Published: April 29, 2022Two Nigeria internationals Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers have been nominated for the Europa Conference League Player of the Week on the back of their outstanding performances on Thursday night.
According to UEFA's official website, Lookman and Dessers are in the running for the accolade along with AS Roma attacking midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini and Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra.
Dessers is now the outright top scorer in the Europa Conference League with ten goals after his brace helped Feyenoord defeat Marseille 3-2 at the Stadion Feijenoord 'De Kuip' - Rotterdam in the semifinals, first leg tie.
Eighteen minutes into the contest, the Super Eagles striker finished low past Steve Mandanda to open the scoring.
The Racing Genk loanee netted what proved to be the winning goal when he pounced on Ćaleta-Car's terrible back pass and slotted home ten seconds into the second half.
Dessers has either scored or assisted in each of his last eight games in the Europa Conference League.
Lookman was the standout performer for Leicester City in a 1-1 draw with AS Roma and the highlight of his display was in the 67th minute when he swept the ball home from three yards to restore parity, though the strike later went down as a Gianluca Mancini own goal.
