Fulham star Tosin commits future to England over Nigeria, eyes Three Lions World Cup squad

Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo has reiterated that his international future lies with his country of birth England, rather than Nigeria, and is hoping to force his way into Gareth Southgate's squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Though the 24-year-old has caps for England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels, it does not rule him out from playing for Nigeria as all the matches were non-binding and international friendlies.

Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported in February that Adarabioyo's minders were sounded out about the possibility of the defender playing for Nigeria and in an attempt to convince his representatives, they were informed that Rangers star Leon Balogun will soon call time on his international career, but their feedback was negative.

Adarabioyo played a key role in the Cottagers' immediate return to the top-flight, helping the London club post fourteen shutouts and got his name on the scoresheet twice while providing two assists in 3,595 minutes of action.

Speaking to The Sun, Adarabioyo said : "I’ve definitely got the quality to be in the England squad. Every player’s concentration has to be on getting to the World Cup this winter — and that’s my goal.

"I knew, because I was playing in the Championship, that it wasn’t going to be possible to get a call-up but it’s definitely possible now.

"My ambition this  season had to be just to play every week for Fulham and get them back into the Premier League."

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Tammy Abraham (Roma) and Fikayo Tomori (AC Milan), who were approached by the Nigerian Federation before becoming cap-tied to England, are in contention to be named on the Three Lions' finalized roster for the 2022 World Cup.
