Teenage Nigerian centre-back involved in Brighton's penultimate training session pre-Man Utd
Published: May 06, 2022Brighton & Hove head coach Graham Potter promoted teenage Nigerian centre-back Odel Offiah to first team training ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Manchester United.
The official website of the Seagulls has published the images of Thursday's workout , their penultimate training session before hosting the Red Devils at the American Express Community Stadium, with Offiah spotted with the first teamers.
Odion Ighalo was the last player of Nigerian descent to be involved in a Premier League match between Manchester United and Brighton & Hove at the AMEX, coming off the bench for the last twelve minutes of a 3-0 win on June 30, 2020, and Offiah will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Super Eagles striker.
The 19-year-old Offiah has been a regular in Brighton's first team training session in the second half of the season, after putting pen to paper on a new contract.
The defender has been included in six matchday squads this season, including away matches at Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City, without making his Premier League bow.
After setting a new club points record (44) in the Premier League following the 3-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Potter's side are on track to set a new record before the season ends.
