Preston North End willing to listen to offers for former Manchester United defender of Nigerian descent
Published: May 09, 2022Preston North End have published their retained and released list following the conclusion of the Championship season.
The Lilywhites have confirmed that American-Nigerian defender Matthew Olosunde is among the players retained for the 2022-2023 season.
However, Preston North End added that they are willing to listen to offers for the one-cap United States international, who is still eligible to represent Nigeria internationally.
Olosunde endured an injury-plagued campaign in the recently concluded season as he struggled with Achilles tendon and groin problems.
From a possible 51 matches in all competitions this season, the 24-year-old logged only 136 minutes spread across two matches.
A product of New York Red Bulls, Olosunde spent three years at Manchester United, 2016-2019, from where he moved to Rotherham United, and then Preston North End in the summer of 2021.
He was in the United States U17 team beaten 2-0 by a Nigerian side containing Kelechi Nwakali, Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Kingsley Michael at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup.
