Dennis doubtful to face Everton after suffering knee injury, two Nigerian youngsters return to Watford
Published: May 10, 2022Watford have provided a squad update before their Premier League meeting with Alex Iwobi's Everton at Vicarage Road on Wednesday, May 11.
The Hornets relegation from the English top-flight was rubber stamped at the weekend after a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Emmanuel Dennis was substituted with seventeen minutes left on the clock and it has come to light that it was an injury-enforced substitution.
Watford manager Roy Hodgson informed during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that the Nigeria international is a major doubt for the Everton game after sustaining a knee injury against the Eagles.
The Hornets are faced with an injury crisis ahead of the visit of the Toffees with as many as nine players battling to be fit.
"With Cleverley it's the injury he received in the game. With Dennis and Sarr it's a knee problem that they've reported," Hodgson told reporters.
Meanwhile, two Nigerian youngsters Tom Dele-Bashiru (22) and Dapo Mebude (20) are back training at Watford following the expiration of their loan spells at Reading and AFC Wimbledon respectively but are ineligible to be fielded against Everton, informs the official website of Watford.
Nigeria U23 international Dele-Bashiru appeared in 39 matches for the Royals, of which 38 were in the Championship, while ex-Rangers youth teamer Mebude played 32 games for the Dons, including 25 in League One.
