Top ten teenagers of Nigerian descent on the books of EPL clubs including Azeez and Shoretire
Published: May 25, 2022The Premier League is the most competitive in the world and it is littered with a large pool of incredibly talented young players.
It is well known that the future of football rests on the youth and that is why top clubs around the world invest in nurturing youth players to superstardom.
This article will however be focusing on the top ten teenagers of Nigerian descent that are on the books of Premier League clubs.
Shola Shoretire: The Manchester United academy youngster has already made three Premier League appearances and is eligible to play for England and Nigeria.
Shoretire is primarily a forward player who is quite capable of playing anywhere along the forward line but I see him as a capable interior who could model his game around Jadon Sancho's.
Carney Chukwuemeka: Having appeared 12 times in the Premier League in the 21/22 season for Aston Villa, it is safe to say that the 18-year-old is on the right track with his development.
Chukwuemeka is eligible to play for Nigeria and England and is definitely one to watch out for in the future.
Miguel Azeez: A mesmerizing midfielder who returned in January to Arsenal from a loan to Portsmouth is eligible to play for England as well as Nigeria.
Azeez is quite tidy and forward-thinking with the ball at his feet but he needs to work more on his positioning to combat counter-attacks effectively.
Ademola Ola-Adebomi : The towering left-footed striker is a physical specimen. His playing style unsettles opposition defences but needs some work in his associative play.
His return of 11 goals and 3 assists in 19 Premier League(U18) appearances is a testament to his effective goalscoring. The 18-year-old is eligible to play for Nigeria and England.
Tim Iroegbunam : The versatile midfielder scored one goal in 15 Premier League 2 appearances.
Iroegbunam became provisionally cap-tied when he made his Young Lions debut in an U19 EURO qualifier against Ireland in March.
Odel Offiah : The Camden-born defender extended his stay at Brighton in January till 2024. A no-nonsense defender who is adept at playing out of the back, Offiah is qualified to be categorised as a modern-day centre-back.
The 19-year-old defender made his professional debut in the Carabao Cup win over Cardiff City in August, before earning his first start in the Emirates FA Cup victory against West Brom.
He made 21 Premier League 2 appearances in 2021/2022.
Tayo Adaramola: The Crystal Palace youngster is an attacking full-back whose game is reminiscent of the world's greatest full-backs.
Adaramola is eligible to play for Ireland and Nigeria. He made 16 Premier League 2 appearances last season.
Kazeem Olaigbe : There is only one way to describe this prolific young Southampton forward, "he is highly devastating in front of goal".
Olaigbe scored 12 goals and provided 4 assists in just 23 Premier League 2 appearances last season, a feat that saw him nominated for the PL2 Player of the Season award.
The pacy forward who committed his future to Southampton early this year is eligible to play for Belgium and Nigeria.
Ferdinand Okoh: The Bournemouth midfielder is one of the top young prospects in Premier League football.
His silky footwork and powerful forward strides are important in the modern game. The 17-year-old was loaned to Truro FC in February and made 3 FA Youth Cup appearances in 20/22.
Samuel Edozie: The England-born Nigerian winger made 12 Premier League 2 appearances last season, registering two goals and one assist to his name.
He could develop into a fine player.
