Nigeria-eligible midfielder set to return to Chelsea following expiry of loan move to Huddersfield

England U20 international of Nigerian descent Faustino Anjorin is set to return to parent club Chelsea following th expiry of his loan move to Championship side Huddersfield Town.

The attacking midfielder switched to the Terriers in the January transfer window after returning from a loan spell at Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.

Huddersfield Town's season officially ended on Sunday evening with a controversial 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in the EFL Championship playoff final at Wembley.

Forest have returned to the Premier League after a 23-year absence and the final was decided by an own goal from Levi Colwill  two minutes before halftime.

Anjorin watched on the bench in Sunday's showpiece just as was the case during the semifinal first and second leg clashes with Luton Town.

Signed on the final day of the January transfer window, the Anglo-Nigerian had to wait until first week of April before making his Championship debut as he was recovering from a metatarsal injury he suffered during his loan spell at Lokomotiv Moscow.

Anjorin has a contract with Chelsea until June 30, 2025 and a decision on his future is expected to made before the close of the summer transfer window.
