Confirmed : Leicester offer new deal to teenage GK eligible for Nigeria, three other countries
Published: June 11, 2022Following the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season, Leicester City have submitted their retained and released list to the English Premier League.
The Foxes are hoping to reengage the services of talented goalkeeper Chituru Odunze for next season having offered him a new contract.
The 19-year-old will be walking away from the King Power Stadium as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2022 if he does not put pen to paper on the new deal.
Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Odunze is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria, Canada, United States and England at international level.
Last season, he was included in the matchday squad three times for Europa Conference League matches, against Rennes twice and PSV Eindhoven.
Odunze joined Leicester City in 2019 after previously wearing the colours of Chelsea, Calgary Villains, Calgary Blizzard, Calgary Foothills and Vancouver Whitecaps youth teams.
Four other players of Nigerian descent have been retained by Leicester City namely Kelechi Chibueze, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Joshua Eppiah.
