Dessers, Sadiq, Dennis or Moffi : Who should partner Osimhen in attack vs Sao Tome and Príncipe?

It is now well-known that Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro prefers a two-striker system in either a flat 4-4-2 or a conventional 3-5-2 formation. In any of the formations stated above, both strikers have differing roles.

To score, the top point man must concentrate on utilizing space between the opposition's centre-backs.

The second striker, on the other hand, must be more technical. He must be able to navigate the channels and half-spaces whilst also being quick on the ball. He fills the roles of an extra midfielder, winger, and striker.

This role necessitates a lot of sprinting, and excellent control, and it's as difficult as it gets in international games, which are more physical.

Essentially, both strikers must be able to complete the five striker-actions within a team but due to the little difference between their roles, they must possess the key actions they need for which role they are tasked with.

Here are the five striker-actions within a team:

- Finishing From Crosses

- Runs In Behind

- Linking Play

- Pinning Defenders

- Pressing

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen possess all these attributes which makes him an automatic starter when available as the focal point man in Peseiro's team.

But who else can do these actions to a high level to partner with Osimhen?

Cyriel Dessers

Dessers is a great striker who finishes from crosses at an extraordinary rate. He is good in the air. He can make runs in behind but his linkup play is quite average. The Genk striker is not very good at pinning defenders and pressing.

Terem Moffi

Has the physical nature to play as the second striker but needs to trust his technique more. Moffi is also quite used to a lone striker system and may take time to adjust.

Sadiq Umar

His low agility makes him a liability on the ball. Coupled with little stamina and protection on the ball, Umar is highly vulnerable in turning over possession.

He is the definition of a "pressing trigger" as he would have lesser angles to combine with and without the quality to get out of tight spaces.

He is great in the air and can hold up play, but his pressing is quite terrible.

Emmanuel Dennis

Dennis can be likened to a "fox-in-the-box" kind of striker as he mostly comes alive when close to the box.

He loves to run the channels and spin in and out between centre-backs and full-backs. He naturally feels where space is and is quite good physically.

He thrives when he has support up front where he can feast on layoffs and knock-downs. His pressing is quite average but that can be attributed to his club's reserved approach to games.

While his form may not be at the best right now, profile-wise allnigeriasoccer.com recommends Dennis as the perfect partner for Osimhen up front in a 2-striker system against Sao Tome and Principe.
