Four-goal hero Osimhen responds to speculation linking him with moves to EPL and La Liga
Published: June 14, 2022Fresh from scoring his first hat-trick in Nigeria colours, Victor Osimhen was the player chosen to attend the post-match press conference on Monday afternoon and one of the questions he was asked was concerning speculation linking him possible moves to the English Premier League and La Liga.
With four goals to his name, the Napoli man was the star performer for the Super Eagles in their record 10-0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe, which could see his stock rise even further.
The Super Eagles number 9 is on the wishlist of Newcastle United, while Arsenal have him as an alternative in the event they fail to land the services of their primary target Gabriel Jesus.
For the Gunners, the stumbling block to a deal could be Napoli's asking price for the 23-year-old, with the Blues valuing him in excess of 100 million euros.
Asked to comment on rumours linking him with moves to England and Spain, Osimhen told reporters : "First of all I'm happy about this win. For me I think my business with the national team stays and my business with the club stays with me.
"Talking about transfer now, I don't think it's the right moment for me because I just finished with the national team.
"I had a good two games and a win and of course there's a lot of rumours going around in the media and of course in Europe at large.
"Anything can happen, we don't know what is going to happen in the summer. I just want to go back to my family, have a good time, relax and refresh my mind and of course when the right time comes I'll talk about my future."
Osimhen became the most expensive African-born player in history when he moved to Napoli in 2020 for a transfer fee of 70 million euros.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner has scored 39 goals combined in 75 appearances for club and country since his move to Napoli.
