Tottenham Hotspur preparing to challenge Arsenal for Super Eagles star
Published: June 15, 2022Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a fresh approach for Arsenal-linked striker Victor Osimhen.
Football. London's Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold reported earlier this week that the Nigeria international is on the radar of Spurs in the summer transfer window.
The north London club are in the market for a striker to provide cover for England skipper Harry Kane who was slightly overused last season, and have been linked with the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Alexander Isak, Patrick Schick and Lautaro Martinez.
Tottenham Hotspur attempted to sign Osimhen before his switch to Napoli in 2020 but were unsuccessful, with the Italian Serie A club beating them to his signature after agreeing a club record fee of 70 million euros to acquire him from Lille.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur face a stumbling block to sign the Nigeria international, considering that Napoli's asking price of more than 100 million euros is excessive.
Osimhen grabbed the headlines at home and abroad this week after his four goals helped the Super Eagles register their biggest ever win in international football, a 10-0 rout of São Tomé and Príncipe in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
