Nigeria-eligible winger breaks silence after departure from Liverpool
Published: June 16, 20222017 FIFA U20 World Cup-winning winger of Nigerian descent, Sheyi Ojo has broken his silence following his departure from Premier League side Liverpool.
Exactly a week ago, Liverpool announced that Ojo will be moving on to pastures new when his contract expires at the end of June and his name appeared on the list of players released by Premier League clubs the following day.
The Anglo-Nigerian started his Liverpool career with their academy team in 2011, rising through the ranks before he was handed his first team debut by manager Jurgen Klopp in an Emirates FA Cup clash with Exeter City on January 8, 2016.
Overall, the onetime Nigerian Federation target appeared in thirteen competitive games for Liverpool, scoring once against Exeter City while registering four assists.
Though Ojo had a promising start to his career at the Anfield club, he failed to establish himself as a first team regular under the German football tactician, leading to loan spells at Fulham, Stade de Reims, Glasgow Rangers, Cardiff City and Millwall in the past five campaigns.
In a post on social media on Thursday, Ojo has no ill feelings about his exit from Liverpool and thanked the fans for their support in good and bad times.
See what Ojo posted on Twitter below :
I feel blessed to have played at this club. Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly the unconditional support from the fans.
