Arsenal identify cheaper alternative to Super Eagles striker and Gabriel Jesus
Published: June 19, 2022Arsenal have reportedly identified a cheaper alternative to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen and their primary target to bolster the attack, Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.
Manager Mikel Arteta wants at least one new striker in the summer following the departure of Alexandre Lacazette, who has already signed for Lyon, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona in the January transfer window.
Tuttomercatoweb making reference to Super Deporte claims that Espanyol striker Raul de Tomas is on the radar of the Gunners.
Though the Spaniard has a release clause of 70 million euros, Espanyol could settle for a much lower figure in the region of 25 million euros.
Arsenal's potential move for Osimhen is not straight forward due to Napoli's asking price, with the Italian Serie A club valuing him at 100 million euros, and it is unlikely the Premier League side will pay the excessive fee for the Super Eagles star.
Osimhen impressed last season, scoring 18 goals in 32 matches for Napoli and was named the U23 Player of the Season in the Serie A.
The 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has a contract with the Blues until June 30, 2025.
