Transfer guru provides key update on Manchester United's interest in Nigerian winger
Published: June 21, 2022Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Manchester United are interested in Nigerian starlet Malcolm Ebiowei but he is certain that the exciting winger will not be moving to Old Trafford this summer.
Although the 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee has been offered a new deal to extend his stay at Derby County, it is looking likely that he will be moving on to pastures new after his contract expires at the end of this month.
Ebiowei was promoted to the first team of the Rams on a permanent basis in the second half of last season after his brilliant performances for the youth teams.
The 18-year-old earned rave reviews for his eye-catching displays in the Championship, ending the season with a goal involvement of three in sixteen appearances.
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has spoken highly of Ebiowei and wants him reengaged for next season but it appears that the promising teenager won't be at his disposal in the forthcoming season.
Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast (17.20), Romano said on Ebiowei : "Really talented. Many Manchester United fans are asking me if it's true that he's joining Manchester United. Talented guy. My answer is no.
"From what I'm told Manchester United really interested in him since a long time but I think he's not joining Manchester United."
Ebiowei previously represented the youth teams of Chelsea, Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers.
