Chelsea latest Premier League team credited with an interest in Super Eagles star
Published: June 23, 20222021 Champions League winners Chelsea are the latest English Premier League team credited with an interest in Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen.
According to The Daily Mail, five strikers are under consideration to replace Belgium international Romelu Lukaku who is on the brink of sealing a return to Inter Milan on a season-long loan.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, who is also the interim sporting director of the club, wants to bolster the squad's attacking options with a new signing.
Per the report, the five attackers that are contenders to replace Lukaku are Richarlison (Everton), Jonathan David (Lille), Osimhen (Napoli), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) and Gianluca Scamacca (Sassuolo).
Other Premier League clubs linked with a move for Osimhen this summer include Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
Even by Premier League standards, Osimhen's asking price of 100 million euros is deemed as a stumbling block to a potential deal.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner is seen as a hot prospect having scored 18 goals in 32 games in 2021-2022 and was named Serie A U23 Player of the Season.
Osimhen has three years left on his contract with Napoli, whom he joined from Lille in exchange for 70 million euros.
