2022 World Cup : Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro hails Chelsea target Dumfries
Published: December 05, 2022Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro singled out Denzel Dumfries for praise after the Netherlands progressed to the last eight of the 2022 World Cup with a 3-1 win over the United States.
The Inter Milan star has been linked with a possible move to Chelsea after catching the eye in Qatar.
The Blues are looking to sign a wingback to provide competition for Reece James, who is recovering from a knee injury he suffered during a Champions League clash against AC Milan in October.
Dumfries provided the assists for Netherlands' two goals in the first half and restored their two-goal lead when he tucked the ball into the net after a cross from Blind in the 81st minute.
Reacting to Netherlands win over USA, Peseiro wrote on Twitter : "Fair win for the Netherlands and a good response by USA. Great play by the Dutch in the first goal. Dumfries was MOTM (2 assists and 1 goal).
"Great presence by American fans in the stadium and big progress by USA. Netherlands proved to be contenders for the world title."
Dumfries' performance in Qatar has boosted his price tag with Inter Milan valuing him in excess of 50 million euros now amid speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.
